Research and industrial collaboration
Collaboration with external partners plays an important role in our ongoing success. It allows significant investment in the latest facilities, including product design and prototyping, machining and testing laboratories.
We are recognised internationally for our work across many engineering areas. This includes energy technologies, nanotechnology, advanced concrete technology, heritage masonry, civil, chemical and mechanical engineering. Recent projects include:
- Collaboration in a 拢3.47 million research project funded by the European Commission, developing innovative nanotechnology-based materials to protect historic buildings
- A ground-breaking joint venture with industry that has established an independent Centre for Engineering Education & Development to champion excellence in engineering
- Collaborating with industry to produce a prototype, web-based digital ecosystem that will streamline data collected throughout the lifecycle of a building from all those involved in its design, construction, operation and maintenance
- Working as a key academic partner in the 拢7.5M Scottish Government funded Construction Scotland Innovation Centre
