Our听world-leading Institute of Thin Films, Sensors & Imaging helped them to create a portable fast-response听sensor for use in听exercise science and sports. It helps听to听determine the correct intensity of exercise for individual athletes.听

Technology: the power of 5G
亚洲影院 leads a听鈧6.8m听project听team spearheading听the roll-out of听Europe鈥檚听5G mobile network. Around听1000 times faster than 4G, the new technology has big听implications听for future applications, from remote surgery to听self-driving cars. Early benefits will come to听remote areas,听where fixed networks are prohibitively expensive.听听
Our vast technological expertise includes:听
- analysis of the effects of the fire at Glasgow School of Art, which will inform conservation projects around the world听
- development of a built asset life-cycle intelligence platform, creating a digital source for all data on a large building

Healthcare: apps with a purpose
The Scottish Centre for Enabling Technologies at 亚洲影院 has worked with NHS Scotland to develop apps and tools that support palliative care, diabetes monitoring, cancer care and ophthalmology. They鈥re among games, apps, animation and database management systems that SCET has created for more than 250 companies.听

Society: academia meets campaigning
亚洲影院鈥檚 long-term partnership with Oxfam involves听local groups from communities throughout the west of Scotland. It has听produced research听on the integration of refugees, the economic contribution of co-operatives, the work of community organisations and the impact of austerity on health.听
Our wide-ranging work with social policy implications includes:听
- research shedding new light on the causes of excess mortality in Scotland听
- pioneering work on the teaching of the Holocaust in schools听
